First Time Swimming, First Time Climbing

Zachary has been wanting to go swimming with the whole family so yesterday we visited the KROC Center. Although Elsie loves the bath she was a bit overwhelmed with the pool. Finally, just before we got out of the water she started to splash and even smiled when Zachary was playing with her.

Just before leaving Zachary had to take his turn at climbing the rock wall - with a little help of course.

Elsie's hand-me-down

Do You Like Green Eggs and Ham???

Nana came to visit last weekend and brought some eggs with green shells to share from Uncle Richards farm. Zachary, of course, wanted green eggs and ham so after adding a little food coloring he was one happy boy. We have had green eggs and ham twice since then.
Guess who got their first pair of shoes??? This was supposed to be last weeks project but I am a little behind. I have been wanting to try the stardust shoes pattern since before Miss Elsie was born but they are working perfect for her now. They don't even fall off with all of the crawling, climbing, etc. that she does. She may end up with another pair of shoes in the near future.

Week 2: All about Zachary

The theme for Week 2 over at Project Run and Play is Celebrate the Boy. That makes one little person very happy. I looked through my stash of unwanted clothes and found 2 of Willies old polo shirts that don't fit any more . . . which means a new shirt for Zachary. Over the weekend I made my first attempt at sewing 100% without a pre-desig
ned pattern. Not perfect, but Zachary loves the hood and pocket and I learned quite a bit.

Hopefully I will have time to finish the projects that I REALLY want to make for him this week.

Weekly Projects

My first goal for the new year is to complete one project a week. Big or small, it doesn't matter. New or old, it doesn't matter. I have a few dresses that were started over five years ago for my nieces that would be perfect summer dresses for Elsie. So, to help me start out the year I have decided to pattern my first few projects after the weekly themes for Project Run and Play. Here is my first project, the June Bug pattern remix from Craftiness is Not Optional. I made it with fabric left over from pajama pants back in college.

And, of course, one picture with her favorite big brother.
